Happy Pride Month! We pause to remember the Stonewall Uprising, the work that has been done during our lifetime toward equal rights, and the work yet to be done to foster inclusive and welcoming communities.
Our focus on creating a welcoming environment for all our staff has been years in the making. We believe that when you show up to work and feel comfortable being yourself, you can learn, grow and contribute in a much more meaningful way. This belief guides our interactions and initiatives at work and results in a workplace culture that people feel and reciprocate with others.
We highlight June as a time to celebrate pride, and at Stack Builders, we recognize this is intentional work done all year. We are proud that in our largest office in Quito, Ecuador, where we just renewed our Great Place to Work certification for 2022, 100% of our employees agreed or strongly agreed that “People here are treated fairly regardless of their sexual orientation.”
We also received 100% satisfaction ratings from all staff for a dozen additional topics including:
- I would strongly endorse my company to friends and family as a great place to work.
- People look forward to coming to work here.
- This is a psychologically and emotionally healthy place to work.
Despite having tremendously high satisfaction from our staff, we are always looking for new opportunities to learn more, stay curious and continually improve.
This last year, we decided together to deepen our collective knowledge about unconscious bias and learn more about the impact on language toward our inclusion efforts. Small shifts can be powerful learning opportunities. We have talked more extensively about pronouns, have encouraged and helped one another practice more inclusive phrases, and shared opportunities to learn more through book clubs, Lunch & Learn meetings, and training. We also extended mental health support options across the company.
Our theme for this year at Stack Builders is building stronger. We are intentionally investing time and budgets into building a stronger team and company culture by implementing impactful initiatives to support and continuously stand behind our team members.
